Understanding the causes and pathophysiology of human diseases is a challenging task that requires a multidisciplinary approach. The major focus of our research is to understand the molecular basis of immunologic disorders. Currently active research topics include i) the role of the major histocompatibility complex and proteasomes in health and disease, ii) cancer stem cells and their microenvironments, and iii) the genetics and evolution of the immune system. In addition to strong commitments to research and teaching, we are engaged in surgical pathology diagnosis.
